Scania’s new 11-Litre Super engine to debut at RTX in June

Scania’s new 11-litre Super engine will make its first public appearance in the UK at the Road Transport Expo (RTX), Stoneleigh Park, from 24 to 26 June 2025.
Set to be available from June 2025, the compact engine is designed with weight-sensitive operations in mind and aims to boost payload potential without compromising performance.
Slotting between Scania’s existing 9- and 13-litre options, the new engine is up to 85kg lighter than the 13-litre and delivers up to 7% better fuel efficiency compared to the 9-litre.
It’s available in three variants: 350 bhp (1800 Nm), 390 bhp (2000 Nm) and 430 bhp (2200 Nm), targeting urban deliveries, regional haulage and other medium-duty applications.
Scania expects the engine to be fitted across a wide range of UK vehicle types, including tippers, refuse trucks, recovery vehicles and fire engines.
Ayyoob Zarmehri, product manager, Truck Sales and Marketing at Scania, said: “This engine opens new possibilities for energy-efficient and cost-effective transport. It’s lighter, leaner and more flexible, yet it still carries the strength and reliability for which Scania is known.
“It’s a smart choice for operators who need to balance performance, payload and sustainability in their daily work.”
The Super 11-litre shares around 85% of its components with the 13-litre version and offers maintenance intervals up to 30% longer than the 9-litre engine, helping reduce downtime and service costs.
Other features include Scania’s cam phaser for variable valve timing, enhanced engine software, balance shafts to cut vibration, and improved engine braking. Scania said the engine’s new turbo dosing system also boosts AdBlue efficiency.
The 11-litre is compatible with HVO, and the 390 bhp and 430 bhp models can be prepped for FAME, giving operators lower-emission options.
