Senior TC backs drivers over CPC

BBellSenior Traffic Commissioner Beverley Bell has indicated that she will take a dim view of operators who expect their drivers to do Driver CPC training in their own time. A report in today’s Commercial Motor says that while legally it’s the drivers’ responsibility to do the required 35 hours training, TCs expect operators to have arrangements in place to ensure compliance. She says it fills her with distaste that firms are making drivers take a day’s holiday to do their CPC training. “As a responsible employer, why can’t you incorporate CPC training into your drivers’ duty periods?” she asks.
