Great food on the road: The Pit Stop Cafe, Lutterworth. Easily accessible via the M1, J19/20, A5, M6, A14!

If you’d like some proper fresh grub when on the road in the east midlands then you should drop into the five star hygeine rated Pit Stop Cafe in Lutterworth, on the A426, post code LE17 4HT. They’ve got a huge menu including an all day breakfast and it’s all cooked fresh to order! You can phone in your order ahead of time too! They’re open from 7am to 1.30pm Monday to Friday and 7.30-12.30 on Saturday.

The cafe is on the A426 which is just off the A5 to the west, and in between Junctions 19 and 20 of the M1. It’s just a short hop from the M6 and the A14 too. Owner Lorna tells T&D: “My daughter has 20 years in chef catering experience and my father in law who also helps out was a chef in the army. This has been our first year here and so far so good! Our son Chris is a truck driver and has helped so much with getting the word out, introducing things like like bigger signs. He has just had a double lung transplant due to him having cystic fybrosis. We did a fundraiser at the cafe in September last year!”

One of the greatest challenges for independent family run places like these is that drivers simply don’t know they’re there. Hidden gems like this are few and far between.
