Scania driver competition now open for entries

Truck drivers of all ages are being invited to enter the Scania Driver Competition (SDC) 2018-19 and be in with a chance of winning a €100,000 prize.

The competition will pit drivers from across 30 European countries in the battle for the grand prize – €100,000 towards a new Scania truck of the winner’s choice.

Theory tests will begin in September with the UK national round in the form of practical tests taking place on Sunday, 31 March 2019.

Focus areas for the SDC are the environment, safety and fuel economy, as well as attracting the next generation of drivers. The winner will need to master them all in order to be in with a chance of winning.

Participants will be required to demonstrate their skills in a variety of challenges and exercises.

Previously, Scania restricted the competition to drivers aged up to 35, but this time round the barrier has been removed and Scania welcomes all truck drivers, no matter their age or what vehicle they currently drive.
The European final will be held in Södertälje, the home of Scania, on 25 May 2019.
