T&D 30th Anniversary issue on sale
Thirty years have now passed since Truck & Driver sprang onto an unsuspecting road transport industry, and we’ve celebrated the occasion with a bumper commemorative issue. We’ve taken a look back at our heritage, with features on the first issue and some of the personalities involved with it, and have also compiled a selection of our favourite TV ads featuring commercial vehicles, complete with quick links so you can watch them for yourself. To gauge how far trucks have progressed in thirty years, we’ve enlisted the help of pioneer lady tipper driver Janet Mott to sample the latest Mercedes-Benz Arocs, there’s the history of AA Relay trucks and a retrospective of the Volvo F10, which was International Truck of the Year when we launched.
Bridging the gap to today, we have a very special Long Distance Diary, featuring two classic Scanias retracing the original Silk Road from Europe to Asia. Coming bang up to date, the Ed’s Choice is WH Malcolm’s magnificent refurbished Scania T500. We have the full story of our drive from Scrabster to Southampton in four of the latest Volvo FHs, a report from the Elmia truck show in Sweden, and a look at hauling marble in the mountains of southern Spain. Experienced drivers reveal the 20 things they wish they’d known earlier, plus, of course, there are all your usual favourites.
