The June 22 issue of Truck & Driver is out now. Volvo FH 540 Dual Clutch, Scania 650S, DAF XG 530, Foden Alphas + loads more!
There’s a terrific selection of features here, from new trucks to modern classics, workhorses on test and even an extra big helping of Team T&D action. It’s been an incredibly busy month here, we’ve been flat out organising photoshoots and attending shows and events. We’re over the moon with the quality and variety of content we’re building up, and you’ll be seeing the fruits of these endeavours in this issue.
Our cover is divided up between two superb Swedes. Editor’s Choice is Matt Waller’s stunning Volvo FH 540 Dual Clutch and 45ft tipping tanker trailer which is run by Hanson Logistics on contract for Baerlocher. Then we have T&D veterans Davidson Scrap Metal’s beautiful all-black Scania 650S tag axle outfit.
Moving inside the issue, we go to see the Derek Heeps fleet, mainly to check out their new Daf XG 530s, while Editor Dougie also finally gets behind the wheel of a couple. One from Heeps, along with Daf’s own 480. He also spends a week on the road in Volvo’s brand new FM 420 eight-wheeler tipper running Type 1 and tar into the countryside and city centres.
We take a peek at heavy haul specialist Collett’s photo archive, meet a pair of beautiful and still hard at work Foden Alphas, Peter Davies has more from his marvellous archive of photos from the ‘50s to the present day too. A new feature sees a driver detail his shift, tackling night tramping and we take a look at the new Volvo FH 500 at Brookdale Transport. Bill Dean and David Russell are back with the Sharp End and Blunt End while Paul O’Callaghan does some Murcia multi-drop and Russell Oliver does a removals run to Malaga in Team T&D. Oh, and Andy Bootles goes to a birthday truck show for a special young lad! Enjoy the issue, catch you again soon…
