Asda goes shopping for Scanias Biglorryblog has the details

Scania has completed the delivery of 253 trucks to Asda after once again being selected as the supermarket retailer’s preferred truck supplier. The trucks are for the company’s base, chilled and petroleum distribution fleets, with the base and chilled fleets vehicles entering service in December of last year and the petroleum vehicles following on last month.

The bulk of the order comprises Scania G-series sleeper cab models featuring Scania’s 410 horsepower Euro 6 SCR-only engine, as follows: •93 off G 410 LA6x2/2MNA mid-lift tractor units for the Asda base fleet •68 off G 410 LA4x2MNA tractor units for the Asda base fleet •17 off G 410 LA6x2/2MNA mid-lift tractor units for chilled distribution, to be operated by NFT on behalf of Asda •38 off G 410 LA4x2MNA tractor units for chilled distribution, to be operated by NFT of on behalf Asda

Completing the order are 37 P 450 LA6x2/2MNA lightweight sleeper cab tractor units being supplied for the Asda petroleum distribution fleet. These will be operated by DHL on behalf of Asda.

The trucks destined for the Asda base fleet will run out of Asda distribution centres around the UK serving stores within their areas, while the NFT-operated vehicles will provide a nationwide chilled distribution service. The petroleum tankers will also operate nationwide.
