Biglorryblog and the tailor made tipper

A R Haddy & Son Limited’s latest acquisition, a DAF eight wheeler with Weightlifter-PPG Smoothline body, was designed to tick all the right boxes for the East Cornwall-based tipper operator. Its light-weight yet durable body, along with other weight-saving features, such as Alcoa alloy wheels and Harsh ‘Roll N Go’ sheeting system, means the truck has a payload capability in excess of 20 tonnes.

The PPG Smoothline body has a Penta PFT32 front end ram and PM1155 load cells. To give the Harsh sheeting system sheet pole more clearance as it rolls across the body, Richard Haddy specified 15 inch radius apex ends (half moons) which the sheet runs on. Normally these are 12 inch radius, but the larger radius stops the sheet rolling through the product if it has been heaped up.

The DAF Euro 6 FADCF440 Construction 8×4 chassis comes with a factory painted day cab and chassis. It is fitted with an MX11 440hp power unit, incorporating an MX engine brake, coupled to a 12 speed A S Tronic gearbox.

Haddy’s new truck will join a mixed fleet of 25 HGV’s and will clock up between 60 and 70 thousand kilometres a year on quarry work in Devon and Cornwall.
