DAF LF GETS NEW ENGINES AND GEARBOXES

New Paccar PX-engines and PowerLine transmissions are here now for the Daf LF. The 4.5-litre four-cylinder PX-5 and the 6.7-litre 6-cylinder PX-7 engine have been completely redesigned and offer up to 7% better fuel economy. Both engines have a new lightweight yet ultra-strong Compacted Graphite Iron (CGI) block and cast-iron cylinder head, new low-friction pistons, new highly efficient compressors and a new waste-gate turbo. There are seven output ratings, the PX-5 engine is available with 170hp to 210hp and the PX-7 230hp to 310 hp. The engines develop peak torque at lower engine speeds/

Part of the new LF driveline is the new eight-speed, fully automatic PowerLine transmission, which features optimised gear spread and steps. The new transmissions provide outstanding low speed manoeuvrability, enabled by an urge-to-move feature upon releasing the brake pedal. The six and nine-speed manual transmissions will remain available for the LF series, while fully automatic Allison gearboxes will continue to be available for special applications, such as refuse collection and firefighting.
