New-look LFs go down a storm at Drainfast

Hampshire-based Drainfast has marked its 20th anniversary by giving its fleet of 19 ‘caged’ DAF LF 180s a striking new look.

Based in Alton, Hampshire, and with depots in Coventry and Essex, Drainfast serves much of the Midlands, Central and Southern regions of the UK.

The specialist plastic drainage equipment supplier has vinyl-wrapped its cabs in a custom red and black livery, complete with front and side Drainfast branding to mark the anniversary.

“We’ve had a lot of interest in our trucks since we applied the wrap,” said Drainfast marketing manager, Mark Chambers.

“We were looking at a new campaign to celebrate our two decades in business and decided our fleet of DAFs is the perfect billboard for the company.

“There’s been a lot of people commenting on how much they like the design and how smart the trucks look, which is great.”

The new Drainfast fleet has been supplied by local Adams Morey in Portsmouth.

Drainfast recently took delivery of four new DAF LF 180s, allowing it to allocate some of its older vehicles to a reserve pool for use during periods of high demand.

The operator said its fleet, when combined, is able to average around 21 mpg, based on regular urban driving and frequent local deliveries.

With the LFs predominantly carrying plastic parts, Drainfast has been able to opt for lightweight cages, rather than heavier box bodies. Bevans design and fit the customised cages to the chassis, which can be opened completely from both the side and rear for easier loading of 6m pipework.
