MV Commercial BTRA Championship gearing up to take centre stage at Nurburgring ADAC Truck Grand Prix

The MV Commercial BTRA Championship thunders into Germany this weekend (July 19/20/21) for the fourth event of the 2019 season, this time around the iconic Nurburgring circuit as the heavyweight behemoths take centre stage at the ADAC Truck Grand Prix.

Hot off the heels of a scorching event at Thruxton last time out, competitors from both Division 1 and Division 2 will make the journey to mainland Europe for the 34th running of the hugely popular event – with a bumper crowd expected to be in attendance.

Whilst aiming to emerge as victors of the prestigious ADAC Mittelrhein Cup, the British contingent will also be setting their sights on valuable points in the race to be champion.

Following his clean sweep of victories at Thruxton as well as a show-stopping performance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, reigning champion Ryan Smith will be fully focussed on making further visits to the top step of the podium.

Triumphing at the Nurburgring last year, Smith heads to the renowned venue leading the way in the overall standings and will be keen to extend his advantage on German soil. Former champion David Jenkins is the nearest challenger to the three-time title winner and a return to the top step of the rostrum is long overdue for the MAN driver.

Elsewhere in Division 1, the likes of Ray Coleman, John Newell, Richard Collett, and Mark Taylor will all also be in the mix for silverware too.

Having missed the last event, Simon Reid will get back behind the wheel of his Iveco whilst there will be a debut for Tom O’Rourke, who joins the fray in a MAN as he makes his BTRA bow.

In Division 2, another ultra-competitive entry list is set to battle it out for supremacy as the 2019 campaign reaches the halfway marker. In what has been an intriguing season-to-date, defending champion Luke Garrett finds himself in the pound seat heading to Germany as the series leader.

Three wins at Thruxton last time out cemented his spot at the standings’ summit however he will need to be on top form if he is to maintain his lead. Steve Powell, Paul Rivett, and Erik Forsstrom have all clinched victories at one stage already this season and the trio could well be in the mix once more.

Elsewhere, the likes of former champion Adam Bint, Simon Cole, John Bowler, Brad Smith and John Powell could all also notch their maiden victories of the season if things fall their way over the course of the three days.

On top of the BTRA runners and riders, several of Europe’s best will also be thrown into the mix this weekend, adding further intrigue to what is already building up to be an unpredictable spectacle.
