M&M Kerr bags its first new T Highs

M&M Kerr, a specialist in refrigerated haulage services for the meat industry, has added the first new Renaults to its 12-strong truck fleet.

A total of three T520 Highs 6×2 pushers have been introduced to the line-up which has been held exclusively with a competitor manufacturer for many years.

The new T Highs will be working on refrigerated meat deliveries across Europe, mostly in France and Belgium and with temperature-sensitive products such as beef and lamb needing to arrive at their destination on time and in prime condition, vehicle reliability was key.

The T520 Highs were selected following the introduction of two used Renaults – a T480 and a T520 – into the fleet two years ago.

“I’ve always run a competitor manufacturer’s vehicles but our local Renault Trucks dealer, Border Trucks, sold me a couple of used vehicles which have proved to be great work horses,” said director, Mikey Kerr.

“So when Mike suggested we try the new T High for our latest replacement vehicles, the impressive specification and overall package on offer was too good a deal to turn down.”

All the M&M Kerr drivers are experienced and have an excellent knowledge of collection and delivery locations throughout Europe.

Mikey said ensuring his drivers are happy is crucial: “Our drivers are out for up to 12 days at a time, so it was so important they were on board with the new trucks and were happy to be out on the road in them.

“To be honest, at the beginning, there was some initial scepticism about changing manufacturers, but this was quickly overcome after getting behind the wheel of the T Highs. They have seen first-hand how great they are and now all the drivers want to drive them; they have been both surprised and delighted by the vehicle’s performance and comfort.”

The 13-litre T520 Highs are striking in M&M Kerr’s blue and white livery. The Optidriver AT 2612F gearbox and automatic clutch provides a maximum torque of 2550 Nm and the vehicle comes packed with a host of optional extras.

These include Alcoa Dura-Bright aluminium wheels, fixed roof deflector, roof-mounted twin air horns, “ultimate” leather steering wheel, comfort air conditioning, 40-litre “quiet” fridge, luxury insulated cab curtains, ROADPAD+ and ECO cruise control with Optiroll.
