Bolshaws’ DAF-mad driver bags brand-new XG+ 530

Bolshaw Industrial Powders Ltd has received a brand-new DAF XG+ from Motus Commercials DAF – Stoke-on-Trent, ready for life on the road with driver Martin Shaw.

Based in Macclesfield, Bolshaws is a leading supplier of hydrated lime and other blended products for agricultural and industrial applications. These goods are transported by the Bolshaw fleet which is made up of six tractor units and 10 trailers.

Of this fleet, one truck is a DAF belonging to Martin Shaw – an incredibly loyal DAF driver who won’t drive anything else.

“I personally really like DAF’s and have driven a succession of DAF models over the years,” Martin said. “The driver comfort is much better than the rest of our fleet.”

So it goes without saying that when Martin’s truck was due for an upgrade, Bolshaws contacted their local DAF supplier, Motus Commercials.

Jonathan Bolshaw, director of Bolshaws, explained: “The decision behind which truck to buy is mainly down to driver preference. Martin previously had the XF but we try to give drivers the very best truck we can so now, with bigger and better cabs available, we chose the XG+.”

The DAF XG+ 530 FTN is a rear-steer tractor unit featuring Hyva tipping kit. It has a microwave, DAF Digital Vision System (camera mirrors), and additional Kelsa light bars.

The new truck will be used for tipping work, but it will mainly be delivering Bolshaws’ products with a curtain sider trailer.

One week on from Martin’s switch to his new DAF and he’s more than pleased with the upgrade.

“This new XG+ has more comfort and is far better than the rest of our fleet. It’s a big improvement on my previous XF; I love the massive cab and the camera system too which I’ve gotten used to really quickly.

“I also didn’t have the steering rear axle previously and it is brilliant! In tight farm yards, the trailer is able to swing around with no problems at all which has made my life a lot easier.”

During its time at Bolshaw Industrial Powders, the new XG+ will benefit from five years’ DAF R&M aftercare support, with Motus Commercials DAF taking care of servicing, maintenance and MoTs.
